Using marijuana to improve my sleep

Marijuana has proven to be a miracle drug. It seems like weed can treat anything. Glaucoma, PTSD, epilepsy, chronic pain, depression, you name it, marijuana can help it. I have even found recently that medical marijuana is being used for acne relief. If you want more information about that, check out my previous blog post titled, “Using marijuana to treat my acne.”

Most people have trouble sleeping at night. Did you know that nearly 70 million Amercians experience at least some symptoms of sleep disorders? Most people develop insomnia at some point in their lives. How many people do you know with sleep apnea? It is becoming more and more common to not fall into a deep sleep cycle. What can you do to help shut down your mind and get rest? Turn to weed!

There are two main components when it comes to the marijuana plant, CBD and THC. While CBD has a lot of great health benefits, look for a high THC content when taking marijuana as a sleep aid. Higher THC reduces the amount of REM sleep you get, which sounds like a bad thing. Reducing REM means no more dreams and nightmares. For people with PTSD, this is a wonderful thing. The theory is that your brain won’t be active and focused during the dreams, you actually will be getting a deeper sleep. Be careful though, you don’t want to dose higher than 20% THC or you will wake up feeling pretty groggy.

I won’t give out exact indica strains that are perfect as a sleep aid. It is always better to consult with a budtender at the recreational dispensary. The budtender can handle long time users just looking to have a good time, all the way to serious medical issues. Lots of people are using weed to sleep. A budtender is going to know exactly what works for each type of person and how to get the THC into your body. You don’t necessarily need to smoke marijuana, there are lots of other consumption options.
